This class reveals the secrets you need to know to sew stretch knit fabrics like Spandex and Lycra. In 6 weeks you'll learn how to make form fitting, body hugging clothing.
Tenneh Wilkins is a women’s wear fashion designer who utilizes fashion to pay homage to world culture. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University. Since then, she has worked as a Designer and Technical Designer in the fashion industry. Ms. Wilkins is currently the Head Designer and Seamstress for her own company House of Rubi.
This class is great for those with some sewing experience but have never sewed stretch fabrics
SKILLS & TECHNIQUES:
Learn about stretch fabrics and notions needed
Learn to measure your body properly
Learn to read and custom fit a commercial dress pattern
Learn to prepare fabric for layout cutting and marking
Learn construction techniques specific to stretch knits
Learn proper finishing techniques
Course duration: 6 week class/ 2.25 hrs each day (ONE time per week )
Thursday 7:15pm - 9:30pm

Sept 19th or Nov 7th (classes start every 6 weeks)
Fabric and Supplies: Students should bring stretch cotton Lycra or Spandex fabric (3yds), ballpoint sewing machine needles, measuring tape, fabric scissors, paper cutting scissors, matching thread, pins, a seam ripper, #15 bobbin
