AFTER SCHOOL FASHION PROGRAM FOR PRE-TEENS/TEENS
Students (aged 10 to 17 yrs old) lucky enough to be in this after school program, will cultivate their creativity, build confidence, and feel a sense of accomplishment as they learn: Fashion Illustration, Fashion Design and Fashion Sewing. Each month, of this 9 month program, will culminate with a finished project. And... the year ends with a fashion show and exhibit! Prepare a portfolio for specialized high school or college...or, just come and have fun!
INSTRUCTOR BIO:
Tenneh Wilkins is a women’s wear fashion designer who utilizes fashion to pay homage to world culture. She received a Master of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from the Academy of Art University. Since then, she has worked as a Designer and Technical Designer in the fashion industry. Ms. Wilkins is currently the Head Designer and Seamstress for House of Rubi.

Session : Fashion Illustration
* Creating the Croquis
* Drawing the fashion Figure by hand
* Fashion Sketching and Rendering Fabrics
* Learn fundamentals of Photoshop & Illustrator (computer aided design)
* Final Project: Presentation boards and completed portfolio pages
Session: Fashion Design
* Finding Inspiration - magazines, themes
* Mood boards
* Fabrication
* Color Coordination
* Final Project: Design a small collection (with theme, color story, swatches, trim, sketches)
Session: Fashion Sewing
* Learn basic sewing machine skills
* Sew various seams (straight, cornered, curved, etc)
* Seam finishes - (regular seam, french seam, etc)
* Make various clothing and accessory projects
* Learn proper pressing techniques
* Final Project: Make a personal sewing reference book - with samples of sewing techniques and and finished garments
Supplies:
Students should bring a 9 x 12 sketch pad, 9 x 12 tracing pad, pencils, colored pencils, fine line marker, fabric scissors, thread, seam ripper, dressmaker pins, 3 ring binder and plastic page protector sleeves.
Course duration: 2 hour classes (once per week for full school year- 9 months)
Runs: Thurs. 4:30pm - 6:00pm
Class starts Sept 19th (will run continuously throughout the school year)
Cost: $199 per month
