S/S 2017 NY FASHION WEEK SHORT COURSE
BEGINNER BESPOKE PANT/BLOUSE
The Italian Method
INSTRUCTOR
Laura Congia is a distinguished Italian professional fashion designer, custom dressmaker and fashion school owner/director at Scuola di Moda Sartoriale. She has a genuine passion for fashion and feels privileged to instruct students wishing to learn the art of dressmaking "Made in Italy". In this culturally and emotionally rich intensive class, her objective is to prepare students for success in the competitive world of fashion through in-depth training.
In this intensive course, visiting instructor from Italy, Laura Congia, possessing years of experience in sartorial techniques, is coming to New York (during fashion week, no less!) to teach you about creating perfectly a fitted pair of pants, the Italian way. This patented Italian system frees you from the fit problems and design limitations of commercial patterns, giving you the freedom to go from design to garment using documented, easy-to-follow methods. The coursework is accessible for new students, but rich enough to excite experienced seamstresses. This special system was devised By Laura Congia (Italian fashion designer and dressmaker) and is used in her own school Scuola di Moda Sartoriale and her bespoke fashion business in Italy, to make patterns and precisely fitted garments for her demanding clients. She will be flying in from Italy to guide you step by step through the different stages of pants and blouse creation, from taking measurements to drawing the paper pattern. This easy and precise system demystifies patternmaking. Now, you can quickly draft patterns based on the exact body measurements, allowing you to create a custom garment in a short time, and to move directly to final fabric without alterations. Supplemental worksheets and a specialized hip curve ruler is included, and a special Italian certificate of completion is awarded at the end.
